Dr Peter Kurz

Dr Peter Kurz was Lord Mayor of the City of Mannheim until 2023. Previously, he was Mayor for Education, Culture and Sport, Administrative Judge, President of the Association of Cities and Towns in Baden-Württemberg and Chairman of the Global Parliament of Mayors. He is Chairman of the vhw - Federal Association for Urban Development and Urban Planning and a Fellow at Re:Form. In 2021, he was honoured with the World Mayor International Award. In 2024, he published a debate book based on his experiences on the obstacles and conditions for success of "good politics" with S.Fischerverlag. His thematic focus is on administrative reform, structural change, sustainability, city diplomacy and urban development.
