Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy
Gitta Connemann has been a Member of the German Bundestag since 2002 and, since May 2025, has served as Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy and as the Federal Government’s Commissioner for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. Since 2021, she has been Chair of the SME and Economic Union (MIT). Previously, she served as Deputy Chair of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group with responsibility for areas including economic affairs, agriculture, consumer protection, culture, and media, as well as Chair of the Committee on Food and Agriculture. A trained lawyer, Connemann worked for several years in private legal practice and has also been active in local government as a member of the district council of Leer since 2001.
